Realising Group Synergies
This international transport Group has businesses in the UK, Spain and North America. It operates over 21,000 vehicles and provides over 700 million passenger journeys per year.
The organisation employs approximately 38,000 people and wanted to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its systems and processes. Historically each of the Group’s operating companies had their own individual IT systems for payroll processing, human resource management and workforce management.
At the Group level it was recognised that human capital could be managed more effectively and synergistically by harmonising processes and systems. The timing was right because solutions needed to be selected for new acquisitions.
We reviewed the situation, confirmed the benefits of harmonising systems across the Group and recommended the optimum strategy for review and adoption by the individual operating companies. We then resourced and managed a 12 month transformation programme. New systems were selected and introduced, and common business processes were re-engineered and rolled out across in line with franchise commitments.
The new strategy proved its worth immediately, by enabling a new franchise win to be absorbed much more quickly and cost effectively than would previously have been the case.
